Cousin Biotech represents 160 years of experience in the technical textiles sector.

1848: Cousin Frères was founded in Comines, France.

 

1950: Pioneer in the use of polyamide to make sewing thread and fishing nets.

 

1956: First company to introduce continuous polyester filament when making sewing threads for garments.

 

1986: Manufacture of the first surgical implant (artificial ligament).

 

1994: First wall reinforcement panel for the treatment of inguinal hernia.

 

1995: Cousin Frère formed subsidiaries: creation of Cousin Biotech, specialist in surgical implants.

 

1996: ISO 90001 certification and CE marking.

 

2000: Compliance with American standards (FDA Registered Establishment).

 

2002: First parietal prosthesis with expansion balloon for umbilical hernia. Patented system.

 

2003: First pre-formed inflatable gastric band. Patented system.

            Santé Canada certification.

 

2004: 1st semi-absorbable obturator for inguinal hernia. Patented system.

 

2006: 1st prolapse implant that could be cut following a pre-traced pattern. Patented system.

 

2007: National laureate of the INPI (National Institute for Industrial Property) trophy, a sign of recognition for Cousin Biotech's strategy of innovation.

 

2008: Construction of new manufacturing premises in Wervicq-Sud (France), multiplying its production capacity fourfold.
